Intersect II, 1979
Acrylic on canvas
72 x 72 inches

Intersect II is one of two early works that mark the artist’s transition from fiber to canvas. She created it one year after she displayed exclusively fiber objects in her first solo exhibition at the WARM Gallery in Minneapolis. Made of interlacing horizontal and vertical strips of canvas painted with black acrylic, the piece suggests the ongoing importance of the feminized practice of weaving to her art.
